Some days, you won't please anybody.
I spent yesterday at a job site an hour outside of town. Nothing was going right. But after putting in my 8 hours, I left for the day because I had to pick up my kids. Pretty shitty, since the mess then defaulted to my boss.
Made it to the school with about 30 seconds to spare.
It was the last day of school. A PTA Mom had organized the traditional last afternoon of fun; complete with bouncy houses, ice cream, and face painting. I didn't help. I vaguely know this mother. We exchanged some small talk on the playground. (I may have called her son by the wrong name.) Then, PTA Mom's (more involved) friend (or Teacher, maybe?) stopped by to thank her for all her hard work. She responded (*eyeing me*) by stating how little most parents do.
So there I was, alone on the playground, sandwiched between the disappointment of my job performance and the disgust of the PTA Mom.
Working Moms, soldier on.
There may be days when your boss, co-workers, husband, children, Mother, MIL, and the PTA Moms all hate you. That's okay. Most of the time, just a couple of them will hate you.
PTA Moms, thank you for your dedication and time.
But learn to say no if you hate what you do. Most likely, somebody else will step up. Worst case scenario, our kids will get by without the treats and parties.
