Monday Morning Spectator

I had a huge super bowl party last night. It was me, my elastic waistband, the kids and husband, papa murphy, twitter, and buffalo stuffed celery.

It was perfect.

To stay focused on what was really important (the ads - which were a little disappointing), my daughter and I tallied up how many commercials were for men (23), women (18), and neutral (21). Next year, we'll add a category for Dads. It seems they think women's spending is movtivated by images of Dads. I assumed all those commercials were targeting women; but I suppose it's possible marketers are beginning to pull at men's Daddy heartstrings like they do women's Mommy guiltstrings.

Never mind. Tits sell for men. The Dad ads were for us.

Super Bowl ad tally. Disclaimer: This list is incomplete and subjective.

The cutest animal award goes to the Budweiser Clydesdale. Best women's commerical: Calvin Klein. Best half-time show was Jeep/Army/Oprah. And best tweet goes to Neal Pollack.

Have  a great week.
